Bristol Ramblers Walking Group-About us

Group walking in garlic flowered woodland

We offer about 300 walks each year
Bristol Ramblers is one of the largest walking groups in the country, offering about 300 walks each year to suit all preferences. Many of these walks are on Sundays, but there are also Saturday and midweek walks.  We also arrange trips to other parts of the country, and occasional social events.

3 free taster walks
You don’t have to be a member to come on one of our walks: newcomers are always made welcome. After three walks, if you enjoy what we do, we would ask you to formally join the Ramblers. See our Helpful tips for your first few walks with us

Walking in Bristol
We offer led Bristol Walks.  Also we have designed some way marked walks in Bristol: Alan Burton Memorial Walk, Bristol  Triangular City Walk and South Bristol Circular Walk

Variety of walks
Walks vary in length and are mostly in Bristol and the surrounding countryside of Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.  We also offer full days of strenuous hillwalking in South Wales, the Cotswolds, the Mendips and the Quantocks. There are also urban walks in and around Bristol. See some  photos showing the range and variety of our walks or Find us on Facebook

Bristol  walks programme
You can see our current walks programme headed Bristol Walks Programme on this page. This also gives details of the grades of our walks.  This programme will be updated if a new walk is offered or walk details are modified  so check it regularly.  Unless stated otherwise, you don't need to book in advance.  Just turn up at the start / meeting place.

 Meeting place
On Sundays we generally meet in Bristol for car sharing to the start of a walk. Wednesday and Saturday walks frequently use public transport. The walks programme gives contact details for all walk leaders so that any queries can be discussed prior to the walk.

More Information
More detailed information about some of the walks is given in electronic newsletter, the eBoot which is sent monthly to group members.   It also gives details of future trips away and how to book for them. Click to Register to receive and to Download the eBoot.  You can also register to receive updates to the walks programme - go to 'Sign up to the Bristol Ramblers email list' on the right hand side of this page and sign yourself up.
There is more information about other walks in the Bristol area on the Other Walking Opportunties page.
