How does it work?
What3Words allocates a 3 word code to every 3sq mtr of the earth. These codes are easy to communicate and give pinpoint accuracy with minimal effort.
The codes look like this: ///mange.early.singer.
Our local emergency services like to use this system by preference.
To use the what 3 words app you will need to be able to download it onto your phone, prior to needing to use it for real. Once downloaded it will give you a location code anywhere you go. Also, should you be involved in needing to contact emergency services you will be able to locate your casualty and give that location to the services once you have located the nearest signal, which may be some distance away.
iPhone users will need to access their App Store ![]()
Android users will need to use the Google Play Store![]()

iPhones (from v14 up)
It is worth noting that the new generations of iPhones can connect to satellite in areas where there is no signal.
This could mean that if someone in the group has a new iPhone they should be able to message emergency services via satellite even where there is no signal.
